This is “Fujiyama Clarinet Studio”, a clarinet studio in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Recently, the clarinet YouTuber "Cla Labo" did a review of Royal Global. I'd like to write about Royal Global, which holds deep personal meaning for me.
Royal Global Clarinets was founded in Boston, USA in 2007.
I met the founder Yuan Gao when barrel and bell models had already begun to be released. Since we studied under the same teacher, although we attended different schools, we often saw each other at master classes. He himself is a very accomplished clarinet player. I vividly remember how he, together with our teacher Jonathan Cohler, designed barrels and bells, repeatedly creating and testing prototypes.
Currently, Royal Global has grown into a globally recognized clarinet manufacturer, producing various instruments with distinctive characteristics, from clarinet bodies to bass clarinets. Many renowned professional clarinet players use their instruments, and clarinet YouTubers review their instruments as well.
According to information from their homepage, Royal Global clarinets are
"manufactured in a state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for their entire product line, and all clarinets undergo inspection and hand-finishing in the United States.
They are based on high-quality raw materials, sourcing the best materials from around the world, including precious hardwoods from Africa. They are processed in their own in-house milling facilities, enabling sustainable and uniform wood treatment. Even sawdust is not wasted and is recycled into ECO Wood, a durable and environmentally friendly material used throughout their product line. They control every aspect of the manufacturing process, from wood selection and drying processes to precise key production, final finishing, and sound testing. As a result, they are able to provide instruments with reliability and expressiveness—instruments suitable for players of all levels."
ISHIMORI
The distributor in Japan is Ishimori Wind Instruments special While I believe they previously handled a limited range of products (mainly just barrels and bells), the recent introduction of B clarinets, bass clarinets, and various model variations indicates a significant expansion of the product lineup. This development is very welcome for clarinet enthusiasts and players, as it provides more choices.
I sincerely hope to see further expansion in the Japanese market. I currently own his barrel and a bell. I look forward to Royal Global's exceptional quality and innovative design becoming more recognized in the Japanese music scene and being embraced by many Japanese performers. I will support efforts to hold exhibitions and master classes in local areas like where I live if it is possible.
