Asian Youth Orchestra 2025 Audition tour announcement

Asian Youth Orchestra 2025 Audition: let's practice those excerpts!

(Nov 23 update: excerpts list has been up -> link here)

The audition schedule has been released for participation in the 2025 tour of the Asian Youth Orchestra, which takes place every summer.

The rehearsal camp will be held at Tianjin Juilliard School starting July 16th, followed by a tour until the end of August, visiting Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Yamagata, Hong Kong, and other cities.

Eligibility is for those aged 17 to 29.

Auditions in Japan will be held:

Tokyo - March 15th (Application deadline: March 7th)

Osaka - March 16th (Application deadline: March 9th)

The audition requires a solo piece and orchestra excerpts. While the details haven't been announced yet, the tour program is as follows:

Mahler: Symphony No.5

Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique

Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto

Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No.3

Shostakovich: Festive Overture

What an exciting clarinet repertoire! You can already imagine which parts will be required for the clarinet audition. There are also significant parts for E♭ clarinet!

If you're interested, it's recommended to gather information early and start preparing.

This is the orchestra I once participated in myself. This summer, I was able to observe their rehearsal camp in Hong Kong for the first time in a while. It's a valuable experience where young musicians from different countries come together to make music. Next year marks their 35th anniversary. I hope this tradition continues for many years to come.

We, as Fujiyama Clarinet studio, will probably go through those repertoire together, so stay tuned for more information.
